Hello,

We had converted your phpBB2 forums to phpBB3 a few days ago for testing purpose again. This will make sure that your data will not be lost when we will do a real conversion. Please note that this is only a test, so please check your phpBB3 forum to see you have any loss/errors/problems or not, if you see any errors please report here so we can fix it for you.

In this new test, we fixed following reported issues of the previous test:
  • Missing avatars.
  • Incorrect Site Description.

For 'HTML code shown as it is' problem. It's not a bug/an error. It's because phpBB3 doesn't allow HTML for secure reason. But don't worry about it, we have another solution to allow you use HTML.

Your test phpBB3 forum may get following issues:
  • No forums found -> Log into Forum Administration Panel -> re-setup forum permissions.
  • Installed phpBB2 styles lost, and replaced with prosilver style -> Find a similar style and install.
  • Configured languages lost, and replaced with English -> Re-install your language.

To access to your test phpBB3 forum, use this url-like http://forumname.phpbb3.domain.com. Your test phpBB3 forum had converted a few days ago so you may not see new posts/members. But when we do a real conversion, everything will be kept updated.

For example:
Your current phpBB2 forum: testforum.freeforum.ca -> The converted forum: testforum.phpbb3.freeforum.ca
Your current phpBB2 forum: forumname.forummate.com -> The converted forum: forumname.phpbb3.forummate.com
Your current phpBB2 forum: superstar.phpbbstar.com -> The converted forum: superstar.phpbb3.phpbbstar.com

You may don't see your forum converted, it's because of following reasons:
  • Forum suspended before the conversion, then un-suspended after/during the conversion.
  • New forum created.
But don't worry, we won't lose you for the real conversion.

There are some online documents you may read if something is hard to understand/setup:
phpBB • phpBB 3.0 Olympus Documentation
phpBB • Flash tutorials
phpBB • Knowledge Base

For a complete list of features of phpBB3, refer to phpBB • Features.

If you discover any bugs, please report here so we can fix them to avoid unexpected issues when we do a real conversion. If you have any requests for MODs, styles, smilies, avatars, ranks, forum image uploads also request here.

Again, this is a test, practice new features and new changes. Don't post real posts, because we may do a test conversion again or do a real conversion, your data on test forums will be overwriten.

If you can't log into your forum, please use 'I forgot my password' link to request a new password.

Thank you.

If you have the code of a flash to embed like youtube, you can use BBCode [flash] to embed it.

You have a code look like this from youtube or somewhere:
width: the width of the flash
height: the height of the flash
value/src: Web address to the flash

Rewrite it into [flash] as this thread advised. That means your [flash] will like this:
[flash=[COLOR=Red]425[/COLOR],[COLOR=Magenta]355[/COLOR]][COLOR=Green]http://www.youtube.com/v/QMBdkBGePzQ&hl=en[/COLOR][/flash]

Hope this helps.

Please feel free to post here if you have any questions, we and other members will reply to you as soon as we can.

Thank you.

phpBB3 is more secure than the previous version (phpBB2). It doesn't allow you use HTML in forum description and posts. So if you would like to use HTML in forum description and posts, you have to save it as a BBCode.

NOTICE: For 'forum description', i mean for the description of each forum of your board, it's not board/site description. phpBB3 only allow plain text in site/board description, don't try to use HTML, you will get no result.

Follow instructions below to do it:
[LIST=1]
  • First, you have to know how to add/edit a BBCode.
  • Then, add a BBCode with these info: BBCode usage: [yourcode]{TEXT}[/yourcode], HTML replacement: Your HTML code, Help line: Text of the BBCode when your mouse is over, Settings: check on 'Display on posting page' if you would like to show it next to 'Font Colour' button on posting page so other users can use it.
{TEXT}: must be in uppercase, it won't work if {text} in uppercase.
  • Now you can embed your new BBCode in posts or forum description.

Now, let practice a bit, try it on your forum to see how it works.
[LIST=1]
  • Log into your fourm as Administrator -> Click on 'Administration Control Panel' at the bottom of any pages -> Verify your administrator permission again.
  • Click on 'POSTING' tab -> click on 'BBCodes' under 'Messages' -> press on 'Add a new BBCode' button
    • For 'BBCode usage', enter: [mycode1]{TEXT}[/mycode1]
      {TEXT}: must be in uppercase.
    • For 'HTML replacement', enter:
    • For 'Help line', enter: test html code as bbcode
    • For 'Settings', check on 'Display on posting page' if you would like to have a clickable button on posting page so your users can use, if not you have to remember to use it.
  • Click on 'Submit' to add your BBCode.
  • Post this in your posts or forum description:[mycode1][COLOR="Red]sometext[/COLOR][/mycode1]
sometext: some text, whatever to make it valid to show your HTML code.
  • Check the result. Wow! it works fine.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to post here if you have any questions, we and other members can help you.

Thank you.
