Hi guys,

1. We're going to upgrade your forums to the newest version phpBB 3.0.6. Because there are a lot of changes in this release, all the old styles will be deleted and your forum style will be changed to the default style (Prosilver). After the upgrade, we will upload the new phpBB 3.0.6 styles that are available here and you can choose to use any of them.

2. Next week, we will do a mass prune of the inactive forums that meets the following conditions below to free up server resoures:

    * Number of days without admin login: 90 days
    * Number of days without new posts: 90 days

So if you don't use your forum for a long time and intend to use it in future, please keep it active by logging in to the forum as the administrator.

While this may sound obvious, it often goes overlooked. Your forum must provide something for the user to want to join and post. The best way to attract new users is to have fresh content updated often, even if that requires you to do a lot of posting initially.

2. Your forum should be targeted while leaving room for some diversity in topics.
Starting a general discussion forum is not going to get you a lot of members in a hurry, that is unless you know a lot of people. Find a topic that appeals to you, and make your board the focus of it. It is perfectly acceptable to have a couple general discussion forums, but make sure that the topic of your boards focus remains clear.

3.  Maintain an active presence in the day to day operations.
Successful forums are not only started by the forum owner, but they are maintained on a daily basis by them too. This suggestion really cannot be emphasized enough; maintain an active presence! As a forum owner, not only are you responsible for the content of your forum, but you also have a vested interest in seeing it succeed. Visit your forum at least once a day, and reply to posts when needed and post new topics when your forum appears to be slowing down. Remember, a neglected board is doomed to fail.

4. Start with just a few forums.
Creating dozens of forums at the start will only serve to confuse and overwhelm your users. Not only that, but having dozens of forums with little if any posts will give visitors the impression that your forum is dead. Start with no more two or three categories, and no more than 6-8 forums total.

5. Clearly state your forum rules and regulations in a friendly, welcoming manner.
Since you want your visitors to feel welcome, a good rule of thumb is to require civil conduct; i.e. no profanity, flaming, personal attacks, etc. Keep your rules short and to the point without sounding overly restrictive or controlling.

6. Communicate in style.
While it is tempting to keep the default style for your forum, choosing one that better matches your target audience will add to your forums appeal. Don't be tempted to go overboard, using an X-Box style would be appropriate for a pet owners forum. On the other hand, using a style with lots of dark colors would ideal for forums whose core topic is sci-fi related.

7. Promotion... Promotion... Promotion...
Once you have points 1-5 down, then the time is right to begin promoting your new forum. While promoting your forum could easily be the topic for a whole article in and of itself, here are some basic ideas to get you started. First, your forum is automatically listed in our search engine friendly forums directory, and will eventually be picked up by most of the major search engines. There is still much more that can be done... Invite your friends and family. Put a link to your board in your e-mail and forum signatures, but be sure that you are not breaking the rules of other forum operators. Search for online directories relevant to your forum topic and submit your link to them.

8. Patience is a virtue.
Even with all of the right ingredients, building a successful forum takes time. Just as seeds do not grow over night, neither will your forum. Taking care, being involved, and by following these suggestions your forum will gain momentum and begin to grow on it's own.

How to create create backup your phpnuke
Step1
: Login to your phpnuke site administration panel with administrator account and chose Backup/restore site.


Step2: Click "Click here" to download backup file.


How to restore phpnuke from backup
Step1: Browse to find the file that you want to restore, and then click Start


Step2: It will show the message box, click OK to continue restore your site. Wait for the restore process to complete.

PhpNuke Support Forum / How to change your site logo

Please follow the instructions bellow:
  • Login into Administration Panel, use link http://yoursite.freephpnuke.org/admin.php
  • Go to Administration Panel -> Administration Menu -> Preferences.
  • Enter your logo url into "Site Logo:" field
  • Press "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the form.
  • That's all
If you can't see the new logo, try to clear your browser's cache. Please refer to http://www.noonhost.com/support/how-to-clear-cookie-in-your-browser-vt597.html for more information.

If you still can't see the new logo, please post your problem in this forum, also remember to tell me your logo url, your current theme.

I want to inform to you that we disabled html tags and javascript for site description and forum description for secure reason. So if you would like to use html tags and javascription on site description and forum description, send me your code, placement, i'll help you insert your code.

Hi all users,

You may get many problems with iframe tag. Your site will be messed up when you enter iframe tag into html editor in create new block/news/article section. Why? Because the html editor doesn't work properly with iframe tag. So when you want to create, edit your block/news/article with iframe tag, please tell me know to help you do it. Your site won't be messed up any more.

How to add new site administrator.
Step 1: Login to your administration panel with administrator account.
Step 2: Click on "Edit Admins" icon in Administration Menu.


Step 3: Enter user account information -> Press on "Add Author" button to add new site administrator.


P/S: Administrator's Nickname (Administrator's username) can be a non-exist ed username on your site.

Also, refer to create new user via administration panel http://noonhost.com/support/how-to-create-new-users-via-administration-panel-vt737.html or register new account by register link on your site.

How to create new users via Administration Panel?

Step 1: Login to your phpnuke site administration panel with administrator account.
Step 2: Click on "Users" box


Step 3: Enter user account information -> Press on "Add User" button to add new user.

How to use blocks in Administration Menu

Step 1: Go to your site administration menu (http://freephpnuke.org/yoursite/admin.php).
Step 2: Click on "Blocks" box, see image bellow


After you click on "Blocks" box, you will see blocks list, see instructions on image


Create Block: scroll to "Add Block" section at bottom of page. Enter suitable information. See image bellow


Edit Block: click on edit icon of corresponding row in the block list -> edit block, see image bellow


Active Block: click on active icon of corresponding row in the block list, you will be redirect to a confirm page, see image bellow


Deactive Block: click on deactive icon of corresponding row in the block list, you are done.

Preview Block: click on preview icon of corresponding row in the block list, you will be redirect to a preview page, see image bellow


Delete Block: click on delete icon of corresponding row in the block list, you will be redirect to a confirm page, see image bellow


Fix blocks' weight conflicts: this link locate at the end of block list. Click on this link if you want to fix blocks' weight conflicts, see image bellow

Promote Your Forums Tips / How do you get more visitors?

Getting your forum to search engine listing is very important.  It will attract more vistitors to your forum.  

Noonhost has done everything it could to help you with this respect.  For example, we have invited Google and Yahoo to come to our sitemap generator to deeply index your pages.
