backup not producing legible sql

Hi,

I'm trying to backup my forum (ltc.freeforum.ca) so that I can restore it onto another forum host.  When I do the backup and look at the resulting .sql file in a text editor, it shows as gibberish characters....just hundreds of lines of random letters.  

Can anyone tell me what's going on here?

  It is not corrupted, it's encrypted.  The backup feature is meant to give you (the admin) more control for when you choose to perform a backup and either save it locally on the server or even download a copy.  These backups are for use on freeforum.ca sites only and for security reasons they are encrypted.  In other words, you cannot take your data with you to another host.  Unfortunately that feature is not offered here mate.

DEar the backup u receive here is for this board and host only. You cannot restore it anywhere else. Its meant only to restore ur lost data (in case) but not for moving ur board to other hosts.

In case we support this in future, we'll notify you.
