Cant get site up!

Hi There!

Right Before i start i must warn you i'm a complete n00b when it comes to this kinda thing,

I have a forum Database given to me and it has everything i want in it for a forum i want to start up myself, all i need to do is change the forum sections to what i want, so i got a server to upload it to temp until i can get it all sorted to how i want it and then i can find a proper server to use permanently for the site,

There seems to be an issue with the global php file, i'm getting the error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_IF in /home/madtaffy/public_html/global.php on line 41

Any help or ideas on what i can do to either fix the issue or can i get another global php file some how etc etc. It would be appreciated loads, not sure what other info you need but i'm obviously more than willing to tell you what i know,

Many Many Thanks in advance,

p.s sorry if its a dull or not very informative question,

n00bs dont you just hate them

As the error message indicates, the problem is with incorrect php syntax. You will need to inspect the code and fix it. By the way, what forum software you're using (phpbb, vbulletin, etc)?

Looks like the back up i was given is corrupted some how, looking at it further it seems there is something wrong with the templates, tried to correct the error in that code and it just creates another error somewhere else, its vbulletin sorry i should of at least mentioned that

I'm getting to the stage where i might just get a phpbb source and start from scratch, shame as this vbulletin source had a few mods i wanted to keep like a shout box, arcade and casino and the theme etc. and would of saved allot of work, basically all i needed to do was change the logo and one or two other simple things and i would of been good to go, i spoke to someone from vbulletin but they weren't very helpful because it had been modified so basically they didn't want to know, at least i won't get that issue if i need support with phpbb, well i hope not anyway

So unless i can find a fix very soon i'm coming to the end of my patients with this source, decisions decisions, just wish i had more knowledge and was able to fix it.........

Thanks for the reply and any other suggestions would be appreciated!

Regards MT

Sorry I can't help you with this because your forum problems are out of my knowledge and control. You can try to go to phpBB • View forum - 3.0.x Support Forum for help.

Regards,
