You should enable CAPTCHA verification and make it too hard to read. You should enable account activation also to prevent spammers.

There's one thing you should do, i tried that and i worked great.

Make 2 members groups,
one is default, leave it as such with one small change, when a user posts 1 or 2 posts, automatically promote them to another newly made members group and set posts to be "approved first" of this group.

the new Members group has permissions same as your members group now.

Now, whenever there's a new registration, the user will post as usual without knowing that you've choosen "approval of posts" and will post what he came for. if its a spam, you don't approve, and it won't be visible and remove that user.
If its a normal post then you approve that and user post count will increase and they'll automatically be shifted to a new group, where they have normal posting rights.

Seems difficult and time consuming but it isn't. and keeps the forum/board clean.
Atleast better than deleting 70-80 spams a day and annoying your users with these ugly spammed posts.

I also find that making captcha too hard deters genuine people from joining, most struggle with it when its easy.
I activate members myself but before i do i now check all names using
fspamlist.com.
