Automated welcome message?

Is there any way you can have the forum system send newly registered members a welcome email when they activate their account? I've been searching the forums and my settings and I've found nothing.

I am sure that there isn't one that works automatically on first entering but if there is i can't find it either.

You can send one manually by going to the
ACP > system > mass e-mail (under general tasks) > find a member, and send that way.
or
if you want you could alter the newly registered group so they see your welcome message in thread form.
Example:
Create a category called welcome, create a forum called welcome to (name of forum), you then post a welcome message in thread form, at the same time you can display your forum rules and ask members to post a reply saying they understand the rules.
You will need to set the newly registered permissions so this is the only part of your forum they can see and reply to, once they have replied to the thread the other forums will open up as they are now registered users.
As well as changing the permissions you need to change the user registration settings,
ACP > General >User registration settings (under board config) > new member post limit = 1 > set new registered users to default = yes > submit

hope this helps you ZergRush

It does. It was a pain to find out nothing like this is in the system but it helped anyway. Kudos to you, Paul!
